Sportsman Log

Strike King

Sportsman Log is an app that gives hunters, fisherman, and just about any outdoorsman an all-encompassing look at the region they are in. What we really wanted to do was establish a realistic use for this app. Sure, you have apps that give you the weather forecast, the tides, the moon phases, etc. But, in the wild, it’s unlikely users will have internet connection or a network signal.

So, we took that simple idea and gave it the ability to track and record tidal forecasts, weather patterns, and the moon phases over the next few days. Now, when you get into those areas without service, it’s all been updated in advance. No more worrying about finding a signal or trying to manage 2 or 3 different apps at a time to find information about the surrounding area.

It’s about creating those little things that give your app the edge.

It’s all about out-of-box thinking. Think about everything a hunter may want to do, things he or she may find useful, and then find a place for it in the app. For instance, recording success of a specific weapon or type of ammunition can help the hunter make better choices in areas with specific game. Likewise, rapid GPS return means even a spotty connection can keep track of a hikers position.

Alright, so here we have an app with features based on GPS coordinates. The app finds you location or the location you are going to be in and gives you details on what’s happening all around you. Why is this attractive to users? Well, it’s practical. It takes information you are going to need and saves it for when you need it. And then, when you get a spark of signal, it updates again. So, in retrospect, you’re never without the app, even if you ARE without a signal.

App development means crafting an app that is as aesthetically pleasing as it is practicably functional. After all, good looks and hands-on UI are what Smack My Apps is all about.

So, the user interface is in tiptop shape. We know this because we know what you want and you know what the customer wants. The app does everything the user needs it to do and more. But however functional and feature-packed it may be, the app isn’t going to sell unless it looks good, right?

Well, we’ve thought of that. Take a look at the colors, all relatable to the icon they represent. While this may not seem like much, it’s exciting to the eye and provides the customer with something to be attracted to. Then we have the camouflage background and wooden paneled heading. This is yet another instance of catering to the feel of the app overall simply by adding visuals.

The tone of an app is set by its pictures, colors, and themes. It’s a selling point whether you advertise it or not, and what we do differently is we listen. We listen to what the app is really all about and we put all the necessary pieces together to make the app what it needs to be, not a black and white cluster of boxes with information pouring out, but an all-encompassing tool to augment the users experience.
